210 denier nylon with drawstring closure, polyurethane coating, large silhouette.Out of all the different gadgets and widgets out there that supposedly help you lose abdominal fat and get your abs in great shape, the ab wheel roller is one of the only pieces of exercise equipment that lives up to my standards.
And trust me, I have very high standards for my workout equipment.
The first time I used the ab wheel roller, I was so sore the next day I could hardly laugh let alone do another workout. This came completely unexpected because although I thought I got a great workout, I didn't know I was in for such soreness!
However, you probably know that it's great to be sore - it means you're truly having a good workout. Maybe that time was a little "too" sore, but I've since learned my lesson.
Anyway, I want to give you 3 reasons why I love the ab wheel roller, so here they are:
- It's Fast - The first time you use this piece of equipment, I highly suggest only doing 1 set because if you do more than that (and you do them right), you're going to be incredibly sore. In fact, I've been using this for awhile and I can literally get a full core workout in less than 5 minutes because it's so easy to progress using the ab wheel roller.
- It's Cheap - Although I have the more expensive version (I think my Powerwheel is around $40 or so on Amazon) you can get a cheaper version of the ab wheel roller for $10-$20 and it works just as good, you just can't do quite as many exercises with it. However if you're just starting out, just go with a cheap version.
- It's Research Proven - The owner of the Powerwheel was involved in a study conducted by the University of California which proved that the ab wheel roller involved more muscle stimulation than any other abdominal exercise in the world. Although they used the Powerwheel and not a regular ab wheel roller, the result would still be very similar and just as powerful!
If you're tired of doing boring old crunches and situps and want to try a new exciting exercise which will build you a much more powerful core (by the way, it works both your abs and your lower back at the same time, something crunches and situps doesn't do), I highly recommend trying out an ab wheel roller.
If you want to try a very homemade version, simply get on your knees, place your hands on top of a book and slide the book out as far as possible so you straighten your arms, then come back the same way. That will give you a feel for how great the ab wheel roller works!
